1981 and 1982 was probably the most prolific period for Bill Kern and Barry Knoedl. Within this 2 year period, Bill & Barry recorded 40 songs, including 32 originals. In addition, they produced almost 60 songs by Jimi Lalumia & The Psychotic Frogs, The Noogs, John Sheridan, Dwight Hobbes, Fran Parker, and a few others. Many of Dwight Hobbes songs were co-compositions by Dwight and either Bill or Barry, and all of Fran's songs were originals by Bill or Barry.
Bill, Barry, and Ralph were in the studio at least 2 days a week over this 2 year period, working on Bill & Barry material. Many major artists are not afforded the amount of studio time that they logged at this time.
Just about all of these tracks began with just Bill playing drums, and Barry playing bass. There are a few exceptions. Sometimes Barry would start on piano with drums, and Bill would overdub the bass. In the case of "Cashing In" & "Sure Thing," neither Bill nor Barry plays any instrument on the tracks. For the sake of a different feel, they brought in Michael D'Ambrosio on drums, Bobby D'Ambrosio on bass, and Thorne Ventura on guitar. Bill & Barry later did all the vocals, and brought in Thorne and Ray Knoedl to finish of the tracks with some great guitar work.
It is with great pride and pleasure that we present the entire Bill & Barry collection, digitally remixed.
