In 1994, Barry Knoedl was living in a studio apartment, and didn't have access to his recording equipment. He was also unemployed. He did, however, have his computer and keyboards in his apartment. Based on the successful use of his porta-studio on the songs included on the last volume, Bill suggested that they record in Barry's apartment. Barry, being unemployed, was writing again, Bill had never stopped writing.
The technology of thime allowed them to record 5 tracks of audio, using the last track to syncronize all the midi instruments. This worked very well, and Bill & Barry recorded this entire album about 4 weeks in July & August of 1994. More so, near the end of August, Bill brought up the idea of making a Christmas album again.
They had recorded 1 or 2 songs each Christmas over the last 3 years, giving them 5 songs. Over the next 5 weeks, Bill & Barry wrote and recorded the last 8 songs for the Christmas album. The Christmas album was mixed by the end of October, 1994, and released on cassette in November, 1994, and CD the following year.
The most amazing part of this story, if you have been keeping track, Bill & Barry recorded two full albums in the space of just over 2 months. Beginning July 26, 1994 with the recording of "If The Boat Stars Rocking," and ending September 30, 1994, with the recording of "My Daily Prayer," they recorded 21 new songs, plus put the finishing touches on some of the unfinished Badbeats tracks.
All of these songs were mixed straight form the 6-track cassette to DAT, with a couple of exceptions that were digitally remixed.
It is with great pride and pleasure that we present the entire Bill & Barry collection, digitally remixed.
