Jimi
Lalumia is still known worldwide for his outrageous musical style. With
his band, The Psychotic Frogs, he made a major impact on the punk music scene
with their first release on Death Records - Death To Disco (Kill 001). In
the spring of 1981, the group was putting the finishing touches for their first
LP release on Beat Bad Records.
This Limited
Edition 45 was intended to be sold at a show the group played at My Father's
Place (Roslyn, NY) on April 2, 1981. Due to problems with the pressing
plant, the records were not delivered until April 24, 1981. 284 copies
were pressed on clear vinyl. 16 copies were pressed on red vinyl.
The clear vinyl copies were sold locally and by mail order. The red vinyl
copies were distributed among Beat Bad personnel and band members.
Palisades Park
was recorded for their forthcoming LP, which was never released. Loser was
recorded live in December, 1980 at a Beat Bad Records concert in Oyster Bay, NY,
featuring Jimi Lalumia & The Psychotic Frogs and The Hand Grenades.
Loser was mastered with an inverted groove, meaning the record plays from the
center out.
Palisades Park
was scheduled to be the next official 45 release by Jimi Lalumia & The
Psychotic Frogs b/w Boys (Live at Max's Kansas City) (Beat Bad catalog #
1005). The official release was never issued because the band changed
personnel.
This limited edition record is extremely rare,
and has sold on Ebay for as much as $400.
