The Badbeats Story - page 3

Tell Her No, originally by The Zombies, and Lies, originally by the Knickerbockers, were two of our favorite 60's songs. We recorded them just for fun. The idea behind these recordings was to capture the essence of the originals without listening to them.  We loved these songs, and knew them intimately, but we hadn't heard either of them for years before.  When they came out as well as they did, we felt that they would make a good second release for the Badbeats.  If you are familiar with the original records, you'll think our versions are just the way you remember the songs, but The Badbeats versions have a drive and cohesiveness that are not quite there on the originals.

The line up on this single was -

Tell her No - Barry Knoedl on bass, fender rhodes, and lead vocals, Bill on drums and background vocals, Joe Schillace on acoustic guitar.

Lies - Bill on drums and lead vocals, Barry on bass and background vocals, Ray Knoedl on guitars.

The four of us are pictured on the sleeve on the Long Island Rail Road tracks, and in Ray's back yard in front of a LIRR passenger train that often parked there.
