The Badbeats Story - page 4

The Badbeats worked on an LP from 1978 through 1981, but it was never released.  It contained 17 tracks, including the 4 sides of the 2 two singles.  The proposed title was HERE ARE THE BADBEATS.  The Track listing is as follows:

1 I'm In Love (Lennon/McCartney)
2 I'll Get You (Lennon/McCartney)
3 She's My Girl (Barry Knoedl)
4 Tip Of My Tongue - extended version (Lennon/McCartney)
5 I Found You (Bill Kern)
6 I'll Keep You Satisfied (Lennon/McCartney)
7 Doesn't Mean It's Love (Jerry Leshaw)
8 Hello Little Girl (Lennon/McCartney)
9 Step Inside Love (Lennon/McCartney)
10 One And One Is Two (Lennon/McCartney)
11 Take My Love (Barry Knoedl)
12 I Don't Want To See You Again (Lennon/McCartney)
13 Tell Her No (Rod Argent)
14 Nobody I Know (Lennon/McCartney)
15 Here I Go (Jerry Leshaw)
16 Bad To Me (Lennon/McCartney)
17 Lies [Breaking My Heart] (Randall/Charles)

Barry Knoedl had a single released prior to the Badbeats on Death Records - Baby Don't Give Up / I Just Want To Make You Happy (Kill 002). Bill Kern had 2 releases on Beat Bad Records - You're Not Coming Home / Don't Listen To Them, and a 12" single - Hound Dog - You Ain't No Friend Of Mine / Radio In USA (a fine entry in the New Wave Dance style a la B52's.

Barry still runs his recording studio (Kno Studio) and has worked with many other artists, including Jimi Lalumia & The Psycotic Frogs, Zacherley, Neck Tie Party, and The Thunderbirds to name a few. Barry currently plays keyboard in a Long Island oldies band called the Retreads, and he is a high school music teacher full-time.

Bill Kern was murdered in his video store 12/28/2005. Bill & Barry's last recording session was 8/25/2005.

Over the years, Bill & Barry recorded about 15 LPs worth of material, but never released anything beyond Barry's single on Death Records and the 4 Beat Bad singles we released. Bill & Barry released a Christmas CD in 1994 of all original Christmas songs. Since Bill's death, we have been attempting to preserve and digitally restore all of our recordings - including the unreleased Badbeats LP; a monumental task, considering the body of work. There has been considerable interest in The Badbeats LP recently. If there is enough demand, we may release the LP on CD. Stay tuned.
